Light and medium duty recovery

When a vehicle has left the road, towing it is only part of the job.

PRM has the equipment and the experience to handle recoveries. Off the shoulder, in a ditch, stuck in mud, sand, or snow, hung up on a curb, or sitting where an accident left it.

Our operators look at the vehicle and at the ground before anything moves. Recovery done in a hurry is how a car that needed a winch ends up needing a body shop. The assessment is the part that protects your vehicle.

What we look at first

Where the weight is

Which wheels are loaded, which are hanging, and what the vehicle will do once it starts to move.

What the ground will hold

Soft shoulder, mud, sand, and snow all behave differently under a winch line, and so does the truck doing the pulling.

Where the anchor points are

Pulling from the wrong point bends things that are expensive to straighten. We use the recovery points the vehicle actually has.

Whether traffic is a factor

If you are on a live shoulder, protecting the scene comes before protecting the car. Get yourself behind a barrier and let us work.

Questions about this service

That is a recovery, and then usually a tow. Recovery is getting the vehicle back onto solid ground safely, which needs a winch and a plan. Once it is out we can assess whether it is drivable or needs to go on the deck.

Done properly it should not. That is exactly why we assess the vehicle and the ground before we pull rather than hooking the nearest solid-looking thing. If we think a recovery will cause damage, we will tell you before we start.
